Check-In: a simple, private way to tell people you're OK

Updated: 1 day ago
Check-In is the quietest feature in My SOS Family, and for many people the most reassuring. One tap says "I'm OK". If that tap doesn't come, the right people are told. Nobody tracks you and nobody has to ring to check.
How Check-In works
Pick a time and the days that suit you: every day, Monday to Friday, weekends, or any days you choose. When it's time, tap "I'm OK". If you don't, your chosen contacts are alerted, with your last known location, so they can call you or go round.
Who it is for
People who live alone and want someone to know if a normal day doesn't start normally.
Lone workers who check in when they arrive, finish or leave a job.
Anyone going through a stressful time who wants a light safety net, without feeling watched.
Separate Check-In contacts
Your Check-In contacts don't have to be your SOS contacts. You might want a carer or a care company told about a missed check-in, and your family kept for emergencies. Or the other way round. You can add a grace period, so a few minutes' delay doesn't cause a fuss, or no grace period at all if timing matters.
Add a note or a pin
Going somewhere unusual? Add a note or drop a pin so people know where you'll be: "Visiting Mum, back by six" or "Shopping in town, then lunch". If a check-in is missed, that context goes with the alert, and the person responding knows where to start.
What happens when one is missed
Your contacts get a clear alert, not a vague worry. A good plan is simple:
Call first. Most missed check-ins are a flat battery or a busy morning.
If there's no answer, the nearest person goes round or calls a neighbour.
If there's real concern, call emergency services and tell them what you know.
Agree this plan with your contacts in advance, so nobody has to think about it in the moment.
It won't nag forever
If you miss three check-ins in a row, Check-In pauses automatically, so your contacts aren't alerted every day while you're away. Turn it back on any time. You can also snooze it for a day off or a holiday.
Check-In on Alexa and on your phone
Check in from the app with one tap, or say "Alexa, open My SOS Family and check in" on any Echo. Both count the same.
Private by design
Check-In shares nothing until it needs to. There's no live tracking and no daily report to anyone. Your location goes out only with an alert, or when you choose to share it.
