SOS Timer: your quiet backup at home, at work and on the move

Some moments carry a little more risk than others: a bath, a walk home in the dark, a first date, a home visit, a run on a quiet path. The SOS Timer is a safety net for exactly those moments. If you're fine, nobody ever knows it was running.

How the SOS Timer works

Set a timer before you start. Stop it when you're done. If you don't stop it in time, your SOS contacts are alerted with your location and any message you've added. It's that simple.

It works even if your phone doesn't

The timer runs on our servers, not just on your phone. If your battery dies, you lose signal or your phone is taken, the alert still goes out when time is up.

Everyday ways people use it

  • At home: before a bath or shower, going up a ladder, or answering the door to someone unexpected.

  • Out and about: walking home late, a taxi ride, a first date, meeting someone from an online sale.

  • At work: home visits, site inspections, late shifts and lone working.

  • Outdoors: running, cycling, hiking or swimming alone.

Add a note or a pin

Add a short note or drop a pin before you start, such as "Viewing at 14 High Street with a buyer called Sam". If an alert goes out, your contacts know exactly where to start.

Start it by voice

Can't reach your phone? Say "Alexa, open My SOS Family and set a timer for 30 minutes" on any Echo. Ideal for the bath or the garden.

Not ready yet? Extend it

Running late? Extend the timer before it ends. Only a timer that genuinely runs out sends an alert.

Who gets the alert

Your SOS contacts are called, texted and emailed at the same moment, or in waves if you've set some to be delayed. The first to accept takes charge, and everyone else is told.

Quiet by design

The SOS Timer doesn't track you while it runs, and it doesn't tell anyone you've started one. It only speaks up if you need it to.
