In today’s dynamic work environment, the safety of employees who often find themselves working or travelling alone has gained paramount importance.

During the app trial, a pertinent question was raised regarding the functionality of the My SOS Family App: “We were trialing the App yesterday. One comment was that you had to unlock the phone then activate the App prior to sending an SOS. Do you also have a standalone system, for example on a lanyard, that you just press when SOS is required?”

  1. Increased Monthly Cost: The necessity of a SIM card significantly escalated the monthly costs.

  2. Hardware and Maintenance Cost: The accumulation of setup, shipping, profit margins, and maintenance led to substantial expenditure by the client.

  3. User Responsibility: The constant need for charging and the requirement to carry the device at all times posed challenges, as staff often forgot to charge or carry them.

Addressing these challenges, we pivoted to leverage the ubiquitous nature of mobile phones, eliminating hardware costs and utilizing the habitual charging and carrying of personal phones by users.

Enhanced Accessibility:

My SOS Family App extends its accessibility, allowing users to activate alerts without unlocking their phones:

  • Android Phones: Users can trigger alerts by long pressing the power button or using Quick-Tile triggering. The new feature enables access to My SOS Family Icon in the tile menu, allowing users to send SOS without unlocking the phone.

  • iPhone Users: Integration with widgets and Siri allows users to send alerts from the lock screen, either using face recognition, fingerprint unlock, or Siri commands.

  • Wearable Devices: The app's availability on Apple and Android watches empowers users to trigger alerts directly from their watches.

  • SOS Timer Feature: This widely-used feature enables users to set timers for expected meeting durations, sending alerts with all necessary information if the timer expires, ensuring safety even in areas with no phone signal or if the phone is switched off.

It merges simplicity with advanced features, providing a seamless experience and peace of mind to users and their families or employers.
